Informatics and Information Technologies

Information technologies, which connect informatics—a scientific research field that examines the collection, processing, transmission, dissemination, and storage of data for specific purposes, as well as the functions that transform data into information, along with the methods, devices, and systems that perform these tasks—and the communication sector, constitute the primary subjects of this department. Additionally, this field studies the effects of these systems on society and individuals. The Department of Informatics and Information Technologies consists of four main research areas. Information systems focuses on a systemic analysis of computing. It also covers system analysis and design, communication networks and communications, and database systems.

Desktop publishing is a field where theoretical and practical knowledge applied in the field of individual and online publishing is given and students can find the opportunity to practice thanks to the technological infrastructure of our faculty.

Digital publishing is an area of emphasis that includes courses and practical work necessary for recording, processing and storing digital publications. In addition, the courses share a background that allows us to examine the social, political and legal processes/consequences of digital publishing.

Graphic design uses the necessary programs to organize text or images in two or three dimensions on a plane to convey an image, a message, information or an idea. It is a unit that allows the use of software that processes fixed and moving images with developing graphics hardware, as well as examining the digital communication environment, commonly defined as virtual reality.
