Hacettepe University Faculty of Communication, Department of Communication Sciences has two types of internships: "optional internship" and "elective internship". Internships within the scope of the National Internship Mobilization fall under the scope of "optional internship" if you are not taking the elective internship course. Elective internship course can only be taken from the 3rd grade. There is no compulsory internship in our department. Therefore, it is not possible to issue a compulsory internship certificate.
Although internship is not compulsory, it is compulsory for students to be insured in line with the decision taken by the university board of directors. The relevant decision can be used if the institutions request a document indicating that insurance will be made. (relevant board decision: sksdb.hacettepe.edu.tr/files/stajyer/istege_bagli_ile_ilgili_yonetim_kurulu_karari.pdf )
Both types of internships can be insured up to a maximum of 30 days per year. The employment declaration required by the internship institution can be obtained from e-government after the insurance procedures are completed.
Optional Internship Procedures
Students are obliged to find the institution where they will do their internship themselves, but the student who will do an optional internship is obliged to contact the internship Coordinator's Office and inform the place where he / she will do the internship. Institutions that are not related to the program curriculum are rejected by the Coordinator's Office. Even if the documents are issued, they are not processed.
After the notification and approval of the institution to the internship to the Coordinator's Office, students will be required to submit these five documents in the link,
https://iletisim.hacettepe.edu.tr/pdata/index.php?page_id=738
These documents must be submitted to the Internship Coordination Office in full and without any omissions.
Since insurance procedures take a long time, these documents must be submitted to the Coordinator's Office at least 20 - ideally 30 - days before the starting date of the internship. In cases where there are less than 10 working days (14 days) before the start of the internship, the documents will not be processed because the insurance will not be completed. It is not possible to make retrospective insurance transactions. In this case, the internship date must be changed in consultation with the internship institution. The student is responsible for monitoring the internship start date and ensuring the submission of the documents required for the initiation of insurance procedures. No notification regarding the commencement of the internship will be provided to the student through the department.
The dates and duration of the internship must be determined by taking into account dates such as weekends and public holidays. The number of days of internship per week must also be submitted to the Coordinator's Office with the annex-2 document. After the insurance procedures for the internship have started, it is not possible to change the dates of the internship except for compulsory situations such as illness, etc. Therefore, it is important to determine the dates carefully.
After the documents are submitted to the internship coordinator, the coordinator initiates the insurance procedures by signing the appendix-2 intern student information form and submitting it to the department. (See the link below for appendix-2)

Internships should not overlap with the course semester. In cases where they overlap, the internship will not be accepted as an excuse for absence.
If the student's graduation date is before or during the internship, it is not possible to do an internship.
Absenteeism without a report cannot be made during the internship. The time spent with a report is added to the end of the internship period and the period specified at the beginning is completed.
